In addition to central Boston’s Downtown-Midtown neighborhoods, the City of Boston has many outlying neighborhoods still within the city limits, each with its own special personality. They are all served by the same city government and the Boston Public Schools.
If you do not see a neighborhood that you are looking for, that may be because it is really a section of a larger neighborhood. (i.e. Savin Hill is part of Dorchester and The Brewery District is part of Jamaica Plain).
One of the benefits of owning your own home within the city limits is the special residential tax exemption that provides owner-occupants with a generous reduction of their property tax bill, saving home owners approximately $2,880 on their tax bills last year.
